![]() I'm looking at keyspan adapters, but I don't see how they would work any better than a usb to serial cable. If anyone has any ideas or pointers, I'd appreciate it. I'm still not sure why it works with the parallel cable but ECS doesn't. Right now my only option seems to be to find the lxi registry entries and delete them so I can continue using the trial. I've spent hours googling and searching torrents for drivers and firmware updates but have found nothing but fake links and malware. I'm open to buying cutting software, but I want to know which one will actually work. Has anyone here managed to get a VE Jaguar III working with anything besides the software it came with? In a last ditch effort to get this thing to work, I've ordered a straight-through serial cable because I think the db9 to db25 adapter that came with mine may be a crossover instead of a straight through, and that could potentially be causing a communication error. I've been trying to find firmware updates or even newer usb drivers, but they're stuck behind end of service pages or GCCclub's requirement of warranty to even see them. I even tried the generic plotter setting, which just makes the cutting progress bar stick or freeze and if iit does finish, nothing happens. The test connection button in the software will not even move the rollers. I bought a usb to serial adapter and ECS detects the cutter with it and says it's cutting and sent the job to the cutter, but the cutter does nothing. It is set to GCC Jaguar III (there is no Jaguar III for VE, so I'm assuming it's just a branded GCC) The ports are right and I have the drivers installed. I have installed easy cut studio demo, which says it supports this cutter, and it can't find the cutter using the parallel cable I used for the Lxi software. GCC's site won't even provide drivers unless you register the device and have a warranty for the machine. I'm not interested in paying $200 for software that 'might' work. SignWarehouse was no help, and suggested I buy their new cutting software BUT told me that it might not work with said software. The trial has expired and reinstalling doesn't reset the trial. The school doesn't know anything about it, and the activation website is gone. The issue is that there was no activation key with the CD. I've replaced the dull blade and cut a few signs in the software that came with it, using a USB to parallel cable. The cutter belonged to a school who no longer wanted it. It came with the CD and CD key, as well as the USB sentinel key for the Lxi Express 2.1 software on the CD. I've recently been given a vinyl cutter, a VinylExpress Jaguar III.
