It turns out Marguerit survived the events of 10 years prior came to reside within Sector Zero after the destruction of the Deep Grand Reef Degasi Base caused by a Reaper Leviathan. She was last seen by Paul, clutching onto the neck of the Reaper Leviathan. After this Paul swam downwards towards a light, likely dying of oxygen deprivation whilst Bart fled towards the Floating Island and presumably died due to Kharaa some time later. Unknown to Marguerit, a second Reaper Leviathan had tailed her back to the base which it then attacked and destroyed. This arrangement continued up until Marguerit brought a near-dead Reaper Leviathan back to the base. Bart needed specimens to test on and Marguerit would bring him creatures for this purpose. A base was constructed within the Deep Grand Reef and here they learned that they had been infected by an alien disease. After this they moved to the Jellyshroom Caves where they remained for some months before Marguerit wished to venture even deeper into the ocean in search of the answer to why they were shot down. They remained on the island until the rainfall caused a landslide which destroyed part of their base. After the storms cleared they were able to see a Floating Island and created a base on it from the scrapped wreckage of the Degasi. They arrived during a period of torrential rainfall and storms which rendered them stuck within their lifepods for several days. Marguerit, Paul, and Paul's son Bart were the only survivors from the Degasi crash approximately one decade prior to the Aurora's crash. 3.2 Marguerit Maida's Log - Speaking Freely. 3.1 Degasi Crew Manifest: Marguerit Maida.Marguerit's considerable experience was demonstrated on multiple occasions, once when she wrestled Stalkers and took their teeth by force and again when she brought a nearly dead Reaper Leviathan to their base in the Deep Grand Reef, and was last seen clinging to the Reaper Leviathan responsible for the destruction of that base, having stabbed a jagged piece of metal into its neck.Īs it turns out, Marguerit survived these events and later appears in person in Subnautica: Below Zero. Paul allowed this to happen because, despite being the captain, he knew that he and Bart needed her to survive. In the end Marguerit had her way and they set up habitats in the Jellyshroom Cave and later in the Deep Grand Reef. Marguerit wished to go deeper into the sea, but Paul wanted to remain on the Floating Island. Marguerit and Paul didn't get along well and argued often about where to establish themselves. Marguerit Maida was a highly experienced mercenary and former member of the Trans System Federation, hired by Paul Torgal to protect the Degasi from pirate raids.

Maintaining behavior requires the use of behavior analysis tools: feedback and positive reinforcement. Here is the overlap and symbiotic relationship between Lean tools and behavior analysis: using the Lean tools = behavior. The roofers might fall down on the roof, but not fall over the edge. Wearing the harness and anchoring with a tether line is part of the standard work procedure. Notice, however, that buckling on harness and anchoring yourself are behaviors, and those behaviors might need feedback and reinforcement through a BBS process. In the case of roofers, harnesses and anchors will prevent falling off the roof even if the roofer slips and falls down. Therefore, the Lean approach is to add equipment and/or tools that enable the work to be done safely. The Standard Work checklist will specify the steps for using the equipment. And even trapeze artists have been known to fall. Question: Could they walk safely if their lives depended on it? Answer: Not always. It’s a can’t do problem. You could argue that with training similar to circus trapeze artists, everyone could walk the roof safely. But that is lengthy training that also requires a high degree of physical fitness. Problem: Walking on roofs without falling off. The company found a vendor that offered “high fashion” safety glasses. The vendor held a “pop-up sale” at the plant, and people chose their own safety glasses that made them look glamorous. Negative consequence removed. One company in Italy heard from workers, “These safety glasses make me look dorky!” So wearing them was a negative consequence for the workers. Question: Could they wear safety glasses if their lives depended on it? Answer: Yes! It’s a won’t do problem. We can add “wearing eye protection” to our BBS checklist to watch for and make a positive comment on the spot if we see it. Problem: Not everyone wears safety glasses at all times. We need to train the person how to do it or provide the equipment and tools to do it or both. If the answer is no, then it is a training/equipment/tool problem. In this case, assuming they know when to perform the behavior, we need to add positive consequences for doing the behavior and remove negative consequences for doing the behavior. The person won’t do or simply doesn’t do it. If the answer is yes, then it is a motivation/consequence problem. The diagnostic question Mager recommends when the correct behavior is not occurring is, “Could he/she do it if his/her life depended on it?” won’t do distinction in his classic book Analyzing Performance Problems: Or, You Really Oughta Wanna, co-authored with Peter Pipe. This analysis of methods follows Robert F. Again, a job best performed by the workers and supervisors of that unit. This is a job for BBS observation and reinforcement of the safe behaviors to do the job. If the Standard Work as specified is safe, but workers are not following the standard work procedures, then it is a behavior consistency issue. This is a job for Lean Process Improvement/Kaizen Teams composed of those who perform that work. If the specified process to do the work (in Lean, Standard Work) has inherent safety risks, then the work process needs to be redesigned. We can immediately see the symbiotic relationship between these two methodologies: BBS addresses the frequency and consistency of the behaviors required to do the work safely. Lean addresses the workplace physical environment and the process for doing the work. BBS practitioners know that observation and reinforcement of safe behaviors is a leading indicator that prevents and reduces the number of injuries (lagging indicator). Lean practitioners know that 5S and other Lean tools make the workplace simpler, less cluttered, and safer. Supervisor's Guide to Safety Leadership Trainingīy Michael McCarthy, Author of Sustain Your Gains: The People Side of Lean Six-Sigmaīehavior-Based Safety (BBS) and Lean are two of the most widely used continuous improvement methodologies in industry today. There are even speedier chargers around, but this one’s easy to use and great value. Duracell also scores points for the slimline design, and for the simple but effective LED indicators which flash red when you start charging, then flash green when the batteries are ready to use, then go solid green when they’re fully charged. You might want to take the 45-minute claims with a pinch of salt – that’s to get the two 1,300mAh AA batteries up to 85% or the two 750mAh AAA batteries to three-quarters capacity – but we could still charge a pair of 2,000mAh AA batteries in 72 minutes. Price when reviewed: £38 | Check price at Amazon Duracell’s high-speed charger plugs straight into the wall socket and comes with two AA and two AAA batteries. Duracell 45 Minutes Hi-Speed Charger: Best all-round charger The best battery chargers you can buy in 2023 1. In some cases, you’ll only get the fastest charging times when you pair a charger with batteries from the same manufacturer, though in our tests the difference isn’t huge. The risks are lower with chargers that charge batteries individually in slots, rather than the usual pairs, but overall it’s best to charge and use batteries of the same type, capacity and brand together, at the same time. If you do, there’s a risk of damaging the batteries or affecting their capacity long-term. It’s usually fine to mix batteries of different sizes within the same charger, but you should avoid mixing batteries of different types (such as NiCad and NiMH), different voltages and capacities or old and new batteries. This isn’t critical – the old systems of flashing red and green indicators work well enough – but if you want to know if a battery doesn’t seem to be charging properly or an indication of how long it’s going to take, then it doesn’t seem to add much to the cost. We’re also seeing some new chargers that provide more information on the status of the batteries they’re charging, usually on a simple backlit LCD display. NiMH and NiCad batteries don’t pose the same risks as lithium ion batteries, where there’s a chance of a thermal runaway causing an explosion or a fire, but you don’t want damaged batteries or a damaged charger if you can avoid it. Is there anything else worth watching out for?īatteries and battery chargers sold in the UK have to satisfy UK safety regulations, but it’s worth looking out for chargers with additional features that prevent overcharging or overheating, and that slow down the rate of charging to a trickle once the batteries near a full charge. This makes them especially compact and convenient and ideal for taking on a trip. A growing number now charge through a micro USB socket, meaning you can plug the charger into any standard USB charger, or even your laptop and PC. Some chargers plug directly into a mains socket with the batteries sitting upright, while others have the batteries sitting flat and connect through a separate mains cable. The other thing to look for is the design and how the charger gets its power. Watch out when comparing super-fast chargers, as the times stated might only apply to a specific size of battery with a specific capacity, not the 2,300mAh AAs you have in mind. As a result, they come with a higher price tag. This requires more technology to manage the voltage and ensure the batteries don’t overcharge or get too hot. Fast or rapid chargers work at much higher speeds, taking anywhere from four hours to under an hour to charge your batteries. Slower, cheaper chargers are usually labelled as overnight chargers, taking somewhere between six and nine hours to charge a set of AA batteries. The most significant thing that marks out one charger against another is its charging speed. |
